Krishna is the sweetest honey we could ever tasted, the sweetest ladhu we could ever enjoy and the sweetest icing on the cake we’ve ever crave for. In short He is sweetness personified that sometimes we become selfish not to share Him with others 🙂 Since were talking about sweetness here, I also missed the sweet vaisnava association back in the Philippines (I’m sorry I’m getting sentimental again), thats why I decided to make a short video of it. Forgive me if the quality is not that good, I’ll edit it later.

Orlando Ratha Yatra ’07

Hare Krishna!

I’m back!!! Sorry for not updating my blog for some time, I’d been really busy with work and with a lot of stuff in my mind that needs immediate arrangements 🙂 So lets start with the Ratha Yatra in Orlando headed by HH Trivikrama Swami.

It was a bright, sunny Saturday, April 21, 2007 and were on our way to Orlando. I was traveling with my assistant Radha Ramana dasa (hehehe!just kidding) and a good friend Sveta Svarup prabhu. When we embarked on a long trip we usually play or sing the Nrsnghadeva prayer asking for His Lordship’s guide and protection. But for whatever reasons which we casually blamed Maya (which is also not good that Maya is all the time the guilty culprit) I played some Bollywood music. Yes, I am guilty of playing a Tere Bina and Kajra Re soundtracks thinking of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachan’s latest movie :), before I got carried away with my reverie Radha and Sveta suddenly protested “Malati can you please change that music, it’s so annoying!” they said. Will, what to do majority wins, two guys against one girl, poor me. So I scanned my iPod, played the Lordship’s prayer and started to get in touch with my inner self, thanking Krishna for pounding my stubborn head on the spot! After almost 2 hours of driving we arrived at the festival location and vuala! Jagannatha’s cart is not yet ready! I found Mo. Parijata anxious because the flowers is not at it’s best and to top it all it wasn’t enough. We started doing the flower arrangements and just salvage whatever we can, at around 12 noon the ratha yatra parade started, at last!

The kirtan was lead by Trivikrama Swami, Navayogendra Swami and various devotees who keeps the unstoppable beat of the holy name. The entire parade was escorted by police officers which keeps the devotees protected from unwanted crowd and the people were pretty receptive although some just have a blank stare thinking if who are these lunatics in robes and long dresses dancing and jumping on the streets?! Other than that, it was a peaceful, ecstatic and invigorating mass chanting of the maha mantra. Nice prasadam was serve after the long parade plus some presentation numbers from different devotees but unfortunately we couldn’t finished the entire presentation since we have to drive back to Gainesville. For the pleasure of the vaisnavas we took a lot of pictures and our polish mafia friend Atma prabhu took some nice videos. Just check my photo and video section for more pictures and of course videos. Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, Subhadra Ratha Yatra Ki Jaya!!!
